Henry Cavill was born on May 5, 1983, in Saint Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands, as the son of Marianne Dalgliesh and Colin Cavill.

While his mother worked in a bank, his father was a stockbroker. Cavill is one of four boys in the family, with siblings Charlie Cavill, Simon Cavill, Piers Cavill, and Nik Cavill.

Beginning his education at St. Michael’s Preparatory School, Cavill later attended the boarding school Stowe School. Showing an interest in acting from a young age, Cavill participated in school productions such as “Grease” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

At the age of 17, Cavill took his first steps into a professional acting career with the film “Laguna” and later joined the cast of the 2002 film “The Count of Monte Cristo” after being discovered in a school play. He also appeared in television series like “The Inspector,” “The Lynley Mysteries,” and “Goodbye.” Notable projects include “I Capture the Castle,” “Red Riding Hood,” and “Stardust.”

Cavill achieved a major breakthrough in 2007 when he starred in the historical drama series “The Tudors,” earning acclaim from both critics and audiences. His performance led to a Golden Globe nomination in 2008 and winning an Emmy Award, marking a significant turning point in his career.

In 2013, Cavill gained international fame for his portrayal of Superman/Clark Kent in the DC Extended Universe superhero film “Man of Steel.” He went on to reprise this role in other DC Extended Universe films such as “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” (2016) and “Justice League” (2017).
